Random ideas for my (and your) new list

I am so excited about starting to work on a new list and about having so many of you join me! I am going to show you random ideas that have been circulating in my head in the hope that some of you will want to join me on some of these activities or have suggestions for making them a reality. To be honest, they haven’t all been thought through properly so some things, like #5 and #6, might be getting replaced soon (or maybe not). As you can see, I am also only at 24 things so I need a lot more ideas. Also, these are not in any particular order. Take a look and let me know what you think. What do you want to do too?

  • Learn a little ASL
  • Take a data visualization class
  • Try Kintsugi (kind of done)
  • Prepare and serve a “Bizzaro Meal” (1/2 done)
  • Do the “City Climb.” (I saw Richard Quest do this on CNN’s New Year’s Eve show. I don’t know if I could actually do this but I listed it anyway).
  • Taxidermy class
  • New local volunteer project (almost done)
  • Escape room
  • Try Absinthe
  • Slam Poetry Reading
  • Ice Skating Lessons
  • Bird ID
  • Learn to make matcha (traditional way)
  • Use the Spherication method to cook a meal
  • Make Pasta from scratch
  • Walk a goat (My original list of 50 included milking a goat which I was not able to do so maybe I can combine the two :)
  • Try to write/create “Black Out Poetry”
  • Buy Bitcoin
  • Take a welding class
  • Try Duck Shit Oolong Tea (done)
  • Try Uyghur Food
  • Visit a Cranberry Bog
  • Try Cross Country Skiing
  • Food tour of Queens (NYC)

Also, many of my work goals this year involve a lot of writing. If you have a writing project on your work or personal list, check out the London Writer Salon Writing Hours. I heard about websites and apps where you log on and simply work quietly in the presence of other people. It is supposed to make you more accountable (I guess if you pick up your phone and check social media you are less likely to do it in front of others? I don’t know). I hadn’t tried anything like this until now. The London Writing Hours are held every day and it’s free. I logged on and found about 200 people all there ready to work quietly on their writing projects for an hour. Unlike almost everyone else logged on, I did not turn on my camera. For me, that would be more distracting. I did spend the entire hour writing and working on two different articles and was able to crank out about 2000 words. It’s definitely a little strange but as someone who works alone most of the time anyway, it was oddly nice to have other people “in the room.”

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your week! — Linda
