Tree Day — 10th Anniversary

It’s my “Tree Day.” Ten years ago, on April 11, 2013, I almost died when a 42’ tree unexpectedly fell on me while on vacation with my family in the Costa Rican rainforest. After a 3-hour ambulance ride on mostly dirt roads to the main hospital in San Jose, I underwent emergency surgery followed by 4 days in the hospital and another few days recovering at a nearby hotel before being able to fly home.

I think daily about how grateful I am to have survived this incident but every year on “tree day” I look back on the last year and reflect on whether I have made the most of the past 12 months. On this 10th Anniversary, I am reviewing my contributions to this world over the last ten years and reminding myself that every day is truly a gift. There may not be a tomorrow, or a next week, or a next year to do the things we plan to do. I encourage everyone to make the biggest difference possible while here on this earth.

To everyone who has helped me get some big stuff done over the years, thank you! I am looking forward to continuing and expanding my contributions and helping others do big things as well.
